Piers Morgan and Dan Walker in Twitter spat over GMB host's 'walk out' and ratings

Piers Morgan fired back at Dan Walker with a dig over viewing figures after his BBC rival mocked him for storming off Good Morning Britain on Tuesday.

In a moment that has now been seen my millions of viewers, Piers walked off the set of the ITV show after a clash with colleague Alex Beresford.

The co-stars clashed on Twitter last week over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, with Alex taking aim at him again on Monday, telling him he was "off the mark" with his criticisms against the couple.

Alex joined Piers in the GMB studio on Tuesday, and on the subject of Piers claiming that Meghan ditched him like a sack of spuds, Alex told him: "She’s entitled to cut you off if she wants to," before accusing him of "continuing to trash her," as Piers got out of his seat and stormed off camera, saying: "I'm done with this!"

Alex then shouted: "Do you know what? That's pathetic," before Piers could be heard saying: "Sorry, can't do this."

As the camera cut back to Alex, he responded: "This is absolutely diabolical behaviour."

Taken aback, co-host Susanna Reid cut to an advertising break after which Piers returned to his desk and hit out at Alex's "personally derogatory monologue aimed at one of your colleagues."

The reaction to Pier's walk out was huge and someone who wasn't backward at coming forward with his response was BBC Breakfast host Dan who tweeted a picture of him and co-host Louise Minchin with the words: "This was taken a few seconds before I stormed off set because Carol said it was going to be chilly this weekend."

Piers was quick to reply and quoting Dan's tweet, he hit back: "I'm surprised BBC bosses didn't storm in and drag you off set after yesterday's ratings came in."

One Twitter user commented: "It’s funny how you have spent this whole time complaining about Harry & Meghan “running away” yet you ran away from YOUR OWN SHOW because someone was mean to you."

Another reacted: "Piers, for once just be humble. You got absolutely schooled today, so stop attacking everybody.

"Take a step back and just be a bit calmer. This reeks of desperation. You dont need to "get one over" on somebody everyday."
