Piers Morgan aims dig at Charlotte Hawkins over who's 'star' of Good Morning Britain

Piers Morgan has had a playful but very public dig at one of his Good Morning Britain colleagues over who is the 'star' of the ITV show.

At the start of a new month, following Piers celebrating GMB's bumper ratings, Piers has been in action this week to speak to the likes of Health Secretary Matt Hancock and also pay tribute to Captain Sir Tom Moore, who died aged 100 after testing positive for coronavirus.

Sticking with his usual schedule, the outspoken presenter was missing from the show on Thursday and Friday with viewers instead being welcomed by co-hosts Ben Shephard and Charlotte Hawkins.

And it was Charlotte he made a jibe at on Twitter after she posted about being on chef James Martin's weekend cookery programme.

At the start of the Saturday Morning show James said: "Joining me is one of the stars of @gmb & before you change channels it’s not @piersmorgan " to which Charlotte replied with a series of laughing emojis.

Picking up on the tweet, Piers responded: "We have more than one?" to which Charlotte was quick to respond to with a hand over face icon.

Both of their followers on in on the ribbing too, with one viewer who tuned in posting: "He actually warned everyone first it wasn’t you in case they turned off! Made me laugh!!" and another reacting: "Well!!! The very thought"

A third joked: "You're such an arrogant sod, but such an appealing sod," while another went for the jugular, writing: "What makes you think you’ve even got 1?"

Piers had a dig at Charlotte live on GMB in November. After the former Strictly contestant started the show with the news, he told people watching at home: "Well Good Morning Britain, it has gone half past six, welcome to the well... well, the real programme."

A frustrated Charlotte shot back: "What?!" with Susanna also shocked at Piers' dig, telling him "The news is also the real programme!"
