Piers Morgan admits to tense dinner rows with father-in-law on GMB

Piers Morgan has admitted that he and his father-in-law have been involved in tense rows at the dinner table over Donald Trump.

The GMB host, 55, had welcomed wife Celia's dad George onto the programme today to discuss the news of the day.

But it became a little personal when Piers asked what George thought of him ahead of his 10th anniversary with his daughter.

Piers asked: "As the man who walked Celia down the aisle, how do you think I'm getting on 10 years on?"

"Well, I hear good reports from my daughter," he replied. "And I'm sure we may not agree with everything but after your recent transformation over Trump, we will agree that you have become a national treasure!"

"Thank you George, thank you!" Piers replied as Susanna cringed into her hands. "It's certainly made lunches and dinners easier now that I'm more critical of Trump.

"I definitely agree with that!"

Awkwardly, Piers earlier called for his co-host Susanna to have a naked photo of herself taken for her 50th birthday.

The pair had been discussing Gwyneth Paltrow's birthday suit photo taken to celebrate turning 48.

Actress Gwyneth ditched all her clothes for the nude photo as she artfully posed in her garden.

Discussing the picture, Piers said: "48 years old... I mean, she does look sensational, you have to admit. There's no other way of describing it.

"Interesting decision to do that. I mean would you two [Charlotte Hawkins and Susanna] do that?"

"No," Susanna replied promptly.

Piers asked "Does that mean you'll be a year older than Gwyneth?"

"Yes I am and I'm going to be 50 in December," Susanna replied, before jokingly adding: "It did cross my mind - shall I do that for my 50th birthday!"

Piers exclaimed: "Yes! Yes! Susanna Reid birthday pic at 50."

"And then my mind went to how much embarrassment it would cause the children," Susanna quipped. "And Apple, who is Gwyneth's 16-year-old daughter, just put one word on the comments section - 'Mum'

"You can just feel the weight of that 'Mum'."
