Piers Morgan accuses Prince Harry of 'using mental health as excuse' for quitting royals

Piers Morgan has lashed out at Prince Harry, accusing him of "using his mental health as an excuse" for leaving the royal family.

The Good Morning Britain presenter, 51, hit out at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex ahead of their interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Piers slammed the couple for "wanting only positive media coverage" and compared them to dictators Kim Jong-Un and Valdimir Putin.

He also described them as "spewing and whining", prompting Susanna to reprimand him over his wording.

Susanna also pointed out in support of Harry and Meghan felt was that they were constantly "being bashed".

Unhappy with her comments, Piers seethed: "They are not constantly bashed all the time they get both good press and bad press.

"That is what public people get. You don't demand only positive coverage. That would be ridiculous.

"But is not relentlessly, that is a total myth. They had the best coverage up unto the wedding.

"Stop using mental health as an excuse. The Queen has never done that – saying 'look at me struggling in my palace'.

"When did the Queen ever do that and say - 'have you thought about me?'"

This comes after a clip from the interview with Oprah saw Prince Harry appear to reference his mum, Princess Diana, by saying: "I'm just really relieved and happy to be sitting here talking to you with my wife by my side.

"Because I can't imagine what it must have been like for her (Diana), going through this process by herself all those years ago.

"It's been unbelievably tough for the two of us, but at least we had each other."

Reacting to his comments, Piers fumed: "There is no comparison between the media attention Meghan got to Diana."

He added: "The hypocrisy is off the charts - 'Please leave us alone, but let us do open top bus interviews'."
