Piers Morgan accuses Harry and Meghan of Remembrance Day 'PR stunt'

Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid defended Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after Piers Morgan accused the couple of arranging a PR stunt when pictures emerged of them laying a Remembrance wreath in LA.

Piers - a frequent critic of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle - slammed the couple for hiring a photographer to take photos of them laying a wreath at a cemetery in California, after Harry's request for the Royal Family to lay one on his behalf in London was reportedly rejected.

The wreath's message read: "To all of those who have served, and are serving. Thank you".

Piers called the couple's action a 'distasteful PR stunt' - despite Prince Harry's 10-year stint in the Army and work supporting fellow Armed Forces veterans through initiatives like the Invictus Games.

But fellow host Susanna - and many viewers - disagreed with Piers' take.

"Because if you don't do it with a photographer, no one will know what you've done it!" argued Susanna, who called Piers "bitter" - a possible reference to Piers' claim that Meghan was once his friend but has since 'ghosted' him.

"Oh please, do me a favour, he could have issued a statement," replied Piers, who added: "They launched a PR stunt with a preferred photographer to take the attention away from the Royals back in London... Because they felt thwarted."

Many viewers felt Piers went too far.

"I think it’s only right that Harry pays his respects, he’s a decorated veteran who lost colleagues, as Susanna said they took a photographer to document it as proof. It’s just Piers throwing his dummy out of his pram because Meghan snubs him now," tweeted one viewer.

Another tweeted: "I say go Harry he was a serving soldier and is perfectly allowed to pay his respects. Piers Morgan is a very jealous judgemental man."

"He has earned the right and as a vet myself I’m glad to see it," tweeted Jeff Young.

Others agreed with Piers' stance.

"Completely agree with Piers," tweeted one viewer.

They added: "Personally I feel they were (yet again) making a point/taking a stand against the Royal Family and their appropriate decision regarding this matter. He could have paid his respects privately instead of using it yet as another boring statement."
