A public question-and-answer session with Sadiq Khan has been disrupted by anti-vax “protesters” led by Piers Corbyn.

The People’s Question Time meeting, which took place in Camden on Tuesday night, saw the Mayor of London and members of the London Assembly face questions from members of the public on issues including transport and crime.

But the meeting was severely disrupted for several minutes when a member of the public, having been handed a microphone to ask a question, declared that the Covid-19 pandemic was “a hoax”.

A group of protesters led by high-profile conspiracy theorist Piers Corbyn then caused chaos with chants of “it’s a hoax” and “shame on you”.

A brief scuffle took place with security, before Mr Corbyn and other protesters were forcibly removed from the venue. The group could still be heard chanting outside after being removed.

Following the display, Sadiq Khan said: “It’s right and proper that I am held to account, but there are rules.”

He added that he would “not be lectured by people like that who claim that Covid is a hoax”.

More than 20,000 Londoners have died of Covid-19 since the pandemic began.

The meeting was later disrupted a further two times, by members of the public angrily confronting Sadiq Khan about the Ultra-Low Emission Zone.

One member of the public was swiftly removed by security after declaring “ULEZ is a tax on the poor, you should be ashamed of yourself”.
