Piers and Susanna clash over Harry and Meghan as she accuses him of 'constantly bashing' them

Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid got embroiled in a rather heated spat about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on Monday's Good Morning Britain, as she accused him of 'constantly bashing' them.

Days after Prince Harry was interviewed by James Corden, the world is now waiting to see the Duke and Duchess of Sussex sit down with world famous talk show host Oprah Winfrey for a candid chat, with Oprah previously promising that nothing was 'off limits.'

A first clip of Oprah With Meghan And Harry: A CBS Primetime Special, has now been released and in it, Prince Harry says he's worried that "history would repeat itself" in the way wife Meghan, who recently revealed she was pregnant again, was treated by the press in the UK , in a similar fashion to his late mother Princes Diana.

He tells Oprah: "My biggest concern was history repeating itself.

"For me, I'm just really relieved and happy to be sitting here, talking to you with my wife by my side."

The clip hit headlines on Monday morning, meaning that Harry and Meghan were a big talking point on GMB with Piers, a frequent critic of the couple's actions since they 'quit the UK' ranting: "They use their royal titles to make themselves astonishingly rich, whilst doing none of the royal duty that the other members of the Royal Family have to do.

"That's my real argument about these two."

Interjecting, Susanna told him: "But that is in the gift of The Queen isn't it? Whether they have any sort of Royal connection title," but Piers jumped in to say: "Well actually no; if they genuinely wanted freedom they'd give up the titles and just exist as Meghan and Harry.

"I'm sure they'd do very well. It's the jarring fact that they don't do royal duties and want to be called by their royal titles to make all the money that is the number one problem.

"And I think we've really got to move past the 'they want to be left alone' - you still get one in three going 'leave them alone, leave them alone.'

"They don't want to be left alone obviously. They wouldn't be giving big interviews if they wanted to be left alone."

Susanna responded: "They don't want a needling, nasty criticism do they?"

As Piers kept on ranting over the top of her, saying: "They want good publicity," Susanna moaned: "God forbid, oh my goodness, anyone might like to have a nice life where you're not constantly bashed all the time."

Adopting a patronising tone, Piers hit back: "Oh, well we'd all like that wouldn't we?" to which she fumed: "YES!"

He continued: "Well they're not constantly bashed all the time. They're constantly praised by people like that," to which Susanna, growing more and more frustrated, retaliated: "Well they're constantly bashed by people like you!"

Trying to have the last word, Piers replied: "Yes! That's what public figures get! You and I know that better than anybody. I don't go out there demanding to have only positive coverage. It would be ridiculous," but hitting back, Susanna argued: "You wouldn't like it if it was relentlessly nasty.

"It would be toxic and affect your mental health."
