Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg reacts on Instagram after making Tottenham debut in 3-0 pre-season win

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has given his reaction after making his Tottenham Hotspur debut in their first pre-season friendly against Ipswich Town.

Jose Mourinho’s side got their preparations for the 2020/21 season underway as they took on the League One side at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.

And the game was wrapped up within half an hour as Son Heung-min’s double after Ryan Sessegnon’s sixth minute opener saw them record a 3-0 win, and make the perfect start ahead of the kick-off in the new campaign.

Both of Spurs’ summer signings so far were handed their first appearances for their new club, with Hojbjerg playing just over an hour, while Joe Hart came off the bench for the second half.

Jack Clarke, signed from Leeds United last summer before spending the season out on loan at Elland Road and QPR, was also given his first run-out for Spurs as he came on as a second half substitute for Son.

Hojbjerg’s first appearance for his new side saw the former Southampton man involved in the second goal of the afternoon as he pounced on goalkeeper David Cornell’s clearance before finding Dele Alli, who then set Son up to drill the ball home.

And after the game, Hojbjerg shared his delight at pulling on the Spurs kit for the first time as he shared a couple of pictures from his first appearance on his Instagram story.

Speaking to Spurs TV after making his first appearance for the club, Hojbjerg said: “I came a couple of hours before the game with the whole squad, and it was just fantastic to be here.

“Again, it’s just confirmation that I’m in the right place, and the game was okay, I think we made some good steps forward.

“We still have a lot to do, but we tried to do what we did in the week, what the coach wanted us to work on today.

“We had some moments where we did well, and we had some moments where we need to do better. Luckily, that is what friendly games are for.”
