Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to miss Manchester United clash as Arsenal plan for deadline day

Here is your Arsenal morning digest for Saturday, January 30th.

Aubameyang to miss United clash

Arsenal will be without Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for this afternoon's clash against Manchester United in the Premier League.

The striker has missed the back-to-back matches against Southampton due to personal reasons, having travelled to help his ill mother, and Mikel Arteta was unsure if he would be available against United.

However, Football.London understands that the Gabon forward will not be amongst the squad for today's game at the Emirates Stadium.

Deadline day plans

Arsenal have had a hectic transfer window compared to their fellow Premier League sides and that is set to continue heading towards Monday's deadline.

The Gunners remain in the hunt for a left-back but, as has been the trend throughout the month, the majority of business is likely to orientate around departures.

Talks with Shkodran Mustafi regarding a termination of his contract continue, while Reiss Nelson, Runar Alex Runarsson, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Joe Willock are among those that could leave the club on loan.

Adams blasts Edu for Willian signing

Former Arsenal captain Tony Adams has criticised Edu for the signing of Willian in the summer, following a poor start to life in north London.

“Why have they brought him into the squad? If you have got him just to make the numbers up because he’s got a bit of experience, where are you going with that?

“Edu is very inexperienced and they were heavily reliant on agents to get player into the club. All of a sudden you’ve got Willian, Cedric, all the same agent. We have got so many kids coming through, don’t buy these players!

“You spot areas that are weak. You don’t get and get Willian on a three-year contract, that is going nowhere. That is really poor sports directorship.”
