Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Manchester United claim made by Arsenal legend

Manchester United have been linked with players aplenty during the summer transfer window and one of those names has been Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Some transfer speculation has merit behind it but this link is certainly one of those that fans should take with a huge pinch of salt.

The veracity of the Aubameyang to United link is up for debate to say the least but that has not stopped former Arsenal star keeper Jens Lehmann making some shock comments.

Aubameyang shared the Premier League golden boot award last season with Liverpool duo Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah but the Gunners could boost their transfer budget by parting ways with the 30-year-old.

That's the view of Lehmann, who has explained that Arsenal could actually improve if they lost Aubameyang.

Lehmann told DAZN: "If you finish fifth (in the league) you can sell players.

"If he (Aubameyang) was to go to United, a new player would come in who could do better. Arsenal's goal shouldn't be to finish fifth or sixth."

It's very unlikely Aubameyang will leave Arsenal this summer and it is understood the wild rumour has no substance behind it at this stage.
