Pierre Emerick Aubameyang targeted by Barcelona as Arsenal mull over Philippe Coutinho transfer makeweight

Barcelona are hell-bent on signing Arsenal captain Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang this summer, according to a report.

The La Liga club are searching for attacking pieces to help soften the blow of losing legend Lionel Messi to PSG.

And according to Sky Sports, they see the Gabonese striker as a top candidate to join the likes of Memphis Depay, Sergio Aguero and Antoine Griezmann in Ronald Koeman's attacking armoury.

Barca would have to shrink their wage bill in order to make the transfer and one option is to send Philippe Coutinho the other way.

The Brazilian is one of the top earners at the Camp Nou but he has been frozen out.

Koeman's side opened their La Liga season with a 4-2 win over Real Sociedad with Coutinho absent from the squad.

And his number 14 jersey has been reassigned to promoted B team player Rey Manaj.

It's also claimed Blaugrana chiefs tried to hijack the €40m transfer of Tammy Abraham to Jose Mourinho's Roma.
