Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang slams Dortmund chief and makes Ousmane Dembele transfer claim

Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has called Hans-Joachim Watzke "a clown" and slammed him for his comments after the Borussia Dortmund chief aimed a dig at the striker.

Aubameyang left the Bundesliga after four-and-a-half years in Dortmund to join the Gunners in January 2018 for a fee of around £56million.

The striker has impressed in north London, jointly winning last season's Premier League golden boot and making a good start in front of goal so far this year.

But the Gunners have failed to reach the Champions League for the last three seasons running, finishing in the Europa League places each year. They also narrowly missed out on the chance to qualify by winning the Europa League last season, losing to Chelsea in the final.

And Watzke stated that the striker "will probably be warm-hearted when he looks at his bank account, but on Wednesdays, will be saddened when he has to watch the Champions League on television."

Aubameyang reacted to the comments on Twitter, calling the chief executive a "clown", and accusing him of going back on his word about a transfer for Ousmane Dembele.

The French attacker was sold to Barcelona in the summer of 2018 for an initial fee of €105million (around £93.3million at current exchange rate), plus a reported €40million (£35.5million) in add-ons.
