Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sets Arsenal transfer stance amid Barcelona swap rumours

Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is reportedly happy with the Gunners amid links of a transfer to Barcelona.

The Gabonese hitman has been rumoured to be under consideration by the Catalan giants over recent days, with suggestions that he could be subject of a swap deal that would see former Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho complete a move to the Emirates Stadium.

In all, Arsenal fans were strongly opposed to the deal and a move for either now looks highly unlikely considering Aubameyang’s own stance on a transfer away from north London.

According to the Express, the former Borussia Dortmund striker remains content at the Emirates Stadium and is determined to fulfil his objective of becoming a club legend.

Meanwhile, it is also suggested that due to his own stance, there is "no chance" of any deal being completed between Arsenal and Barcelona this summer for Aubameyang’s services.

This is an attitude that certainly aligns itself with comments from the striker as he penned a new deal in north London only last summer.

He said: "I've seen incredible players. Passionate players. Invincible players. I dream of being one of them, amongst the best, and staying in the hearts of the fans forever.

"I want to become an Arsenal legend, just like Thierry, Wrighty, Adams and Bergkamp. Too many to mention.

"My dad is my biggest inspiration and he was captain of his club and his country, so it means so much to me to be the captain of this special club. I want to leave a legacy, this is where I belong. This is my family."

Rumours of the 32-year-old leaving the club follow a hugely underwhelming campaign in which he only managed to score 15 goals in all competitions - albeit with illness and injury affecting him throughout the campaign.

In all, Aubameyang has scored 85 goals in 148 Arsenal appearances and has two years remaining on the fresh deal that he penned last summer.

Alongside Alexandre Lacazette, he missed the opening game of the 2021/22 season through illness as the Gunners fell to a 2-0 defeat to Brentford.
