Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sends message to Salah, Mane and Aguero in the race for Golden Boot

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is already up, running and off the mark for goals this season.

The Gabon international striker scored his side's only goal of the game in the season opener on Sunday when he finished past Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka to give the Gunners a 1-0 victory over the Magpies.

That strike was Aubameyang's 33rd in just 50 Premier League appearances for Arsenal since he joined in January 2018. The 30-year old scored 22 goals in the league last season, earning him the golden boot, although he did have to share it with Liverpool duo Mo Salah and Sadio Mane.

Unai Emery on why he decided not to start with new signings

The striker will be hoping to add to his tally this year in order to beat his rivals and retain the accolade for a second year running. Although he will have tough competition with the likes of Salah, Mane, Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling all vying for the same award.

Aubameyang has sent a subtle message to his fellow Premier League strikers as the competition to be the league's top scorer starts.

The Arsenal man has commented on an Instagram post by 433, asking how many goals he will score this season.

The comment from the player reads: "A lot."

Gunners fans will be hoping that the striker sticks to his word.

Manchester City and England forward Raheem Sterling currently leads the way in the goalscoring charts after he bagged a hat trick in the Champions' 5-0 win over West Ham United.

Aubameyang will have the chance to add to his tally when Arsenal take on Burnley at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
