Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sends message to Max Meyer after Arsenal star's horror foul

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has wished Max Meyer well after his horror foul left the Crystal Palace star injured in their draw with Arsenal.

Aubameyang, who opened the scoring for the Gunners at Selhurst Park, was shown a straight red card after a VAR review for his foul on Meyer.

The Gabon international went in late on the German and caught him on his ankle, causing it to buckle underneath him.

Meyer limped off with an injury and referee Paul Tierney was left with no alternative but to brandish the red card.

On Instagram after the match, Aubameyang wrote: "Hopefully Max Meyer get well soon.

"I really didn't want to challenge him so hard and I appreciate that the boys fought hard to take that win but unfortunately we come back with a draw we keep going."

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta also spoke out about the foul in his post-match interview.

He told the press: "I was really pleased with the first half.

"We conceded the goal where we switched off completely. That is unacceptable and I'm really upset with that.

"We reacted very well after conceding the goal.

"After Auba's red card we were the team I expected because everybody was at it.

"I haven't seen it but I think it was a harsh challenge. There is no intention to do it but maybe he mistimed it."
