Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sends message to departing Arsenal captain Laurent Koscielny

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has sent a message to Laurent Koscielny following his departure from the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.

The Frenchman has returned to his home country and signed a deal with Ligue 1 side Bordeaux, with Arsenal receiving a fee believed to be in the region on £4.6m.

His behaviour in order to force through a move to France won't have gone down well with Gunners' fans, with the defender causing a stir by refusing to travel with the rest of the first team squad to their pre-season tour of the United States, causing the club to take disciplinary action against the former captain.

After sealing his move away from Arsenal, the player took to social media in order to explain why he was so desperate for a transfer.

Despite his behaviour in his final weeks of the season, his former teammates, including Aubameyang, have also taken to social media in order to say goodbye to the 33-year-old and wish him all the best.

"Proud to have played with you @Koscielny_official6...respect!" The Gobon international wrote on his Instagram page alongside a photo of the two in training together.

Following Koscielny's departure, Unai Emery has just over 24 hours to secure a replacement and strengthen his back line ahead of the new season. The Gunners have been heavily linked with moves for defenders Daniele Rugani and Dayot Upamecano in recent days.

Any deal would need to be completed before the transfer window closes at 5pm on Thursday 8th August.
