Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has urged fans to be patient after the club's poor start to the season.
The Gunners fell to Thomas Frank's Brentford 2-0 during the Premier League's curtain-raiser before Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea inflicted the same scoreline upon them on Sunday afternoon, leaving the Gunners languishing in the relegation zone.
However, they put their league form aside on Wednesday night to trounce West Brom 6-0 in the second round of the EFL Cup before drawing League 1 side AFC Wimbledon in the next round.
Mikel Arteta fielded a strong side, with Arsenal's front four consisting of Aubameyang, Nicolas Pepe, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard - an attack that cost the north London club around £160million in transfer fees.
Still, they didn't disappoint against the Baggies as the Gabonese frontman netted a hat-trick, with Pepe, Saka and substitute Alexandre Lacazette rounding off the scoring to secure Arteta his largest victory as Arsenal boss.
The veteran Aubameyang admitted that the performance at the Hawthornes was an important one for the team's confidence ahead of their clash against Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.
"Strange feeling, just happy we won this game," he said when asked about his side's disappointing start to the season.
"Good to breed confidence of the team. We've had a tough start to the season. The commitment of the player is always there. We will give our best for the fans and that’s it."
The 32-year-old urged fans to be patient with the Gunners frustrating start to the campaign, admitting that there is still a long way to go to turn things around this season.
He added: "Of course, I think only two games, we still have 36 left, we still give our best, everyone deserves it because everyone is giving it [their all] every single day."
