Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sends Arsenal fans clearest message yet over January transfer plans

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has sent his clearest message yet to Arsenal fans about his future with the club.

Entering the New Year, rumours around the Gabonese striker's Arsenal future have increased. The striker is still yet to extend his initial contract with the club but is adamant that these rumours should be ignored.

"I would like to react to some of the rumours that are going around about in the media," he told Arsenal's official matchday programme.

"People like making up stories and they should focus on what's happening on the pitch. They talk too much and it does my head in!

Mikel Arteta's simple response to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang rumours

"I am the Arsenal captain. I love this club. I am committed to it and desperate to bring it back to the top.

Despite Arsenal's season taking various twists and turns up to this point, the striker also believes the Gunners can make the FA Cup their own yet again.

Mikel Arteta's side will head into their Third Round clash with Leeds United looking to build off the momentum created in their victory over Manchester United on New Years' Day.

Although rotation is expected with Hector Bellerin, Rob Holding and Dani Ceballos yet to return from injury, Aubameyang feels the club's history in English football's oldest competition will help them this time around.

"Tonight, we enter a new competition and we have a bit of a love story with the FA Cup,"

"We have won it more than any other club in England and we place a lot of importance on it again this season. We want to win it and I would love to lift the FA Cup at Wembley!"

Arsenal facing Leeds at the Emirates immediately sparks memories of that Thierry Henry goal when the Frenchman returned in 2012. Today (January 6) marks eight years since the club legend re-signed for the club but that iconic moment wasn't until January 9 2012.

That night was also the first time that Arteta captained the side after his 2011 deadline day move from Everton in the summer.

Having won the FA Cup twice with the club as a player, Arteta has clarified he aims to do the same as a manager. However, knowing what Leeds and Marcelo Bielsa can do, Aubameyang is very wary of not being over-confident.

"Firstly, we need to beat Leeds and it will be a tricky game. They are top of the Championship with Marcelo Bielsea. I know him well from his time in France at Marseille and Lille.

"He's a very special manager who has inspired and influenced many other top managers. They play with a lot of intensity and put a lot of effort in as well as being a very talented team. We can't take them for granted."

"We can't take this game for granted. We need to put a good run of results together now, whatever the competition,"

"So we have to to build on the Manchester United game by producing a similar performance against Leeds and then at Crystal Palace next weekend."
