Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored second Arsenal goal at Norwich with two balls on pitch

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang rescued a point for Arsenal at Norwich - although there are doubts over whether the goal should have stood.

The Gunners skipper scored twice for his side as Freddie Ljungberg's spell as interim coach began with a 2-2 draw.

Aubameyang had cancelled out Teemu Pukki's deflected opener with a retaken penalty but Todd Cantwell put Norwich ahead again.

Aubameyang popped up again early in the second half, lashing home from close range.

But the goal is shrouded in controversy after replays showed a second ball was thrown onto the pitch in the build-up.

Referee Paul Tierney did not spot the second ball, that had no impact on Aubameyang's goal.

Premier League rules state if an extra ball enters the field of play during the match, without interfering with play, the referee must have it removed at the earliest possible opportunity.

Given Arsenal were in the final stages of their attack, referee Tierney may deem it was not suitable to stop play.

The goal was not disallowed as the second ball did not impact the end result.

The point sees Arsenal remain in eighth in the Premier League but their winless run continued.

Arsenal have now gone eight games without a win and remain seven points adrift of the top four.

The Gunners are back in action at home to Brighton in midweek before a trip to West Ham .
