The 2010s saw Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang emerge as one of the world's dominant forces and he believes Arsenal's current crop of youngsters can do the same.
The Gunners haven't hit the heights expected in the second half of the 2010s but the appointment of Mikel Arteta alongside the squad's youthful presence provides optimism for the 2020s.
Ahead of the Gunners' first game of the new decade, Aubameyang has reminisced about how he began the previous one when breaking onto the scene in France.
"It's the first game of 2020 and for me personally, my career has developed a lot over the last 10 years to where I am today, at this great football club," the 30-year-old told the Arsenal matchday programme.
"Someone reminded me of my first game of the decade which was when I was on loan at Lille from AC Milan. I came on late in a game against Rennes and scored the winner in a 3-1 victory.
"Eden Hazard, Gervinho, Yohan Cabaye and Mathieu Debuchy were all in that Lille side."
Since that game in January 2010, Aubameyang has become one of the most notorious strikers in Europe and the Premier League since joining Arsenal in 2018.
In fact, he was the Gunners' top scorer in 2019 with 22 Premier League goals in the calendar year and is expecting to continue that form into this year.
However, he is also looking forward to seeing the youngsters currently at the club flourish and has spoken about how he tried to help Bukayo Saka through Arsenal's last game against Chelsea.
"But in truth, my career was still at the start, a lot like some of the players we have in and around the Arsenal team today.
"Like Reiss (Nelson), Gabi (Martinelli), Emile (Smith Rowe) and Joe (Willock) and believe me, they can make a huge impact for this club over the next decade. I can't wait to watch their progress.
"I was working really hard to make sure Bukayo had good cover, though you could see that h is already adapting to this position so quickly, it's pretty amazing for an 18-year-old who has hardly ever played there for the first team.
"I hope everyone enjoyed themselves last night. With your support, we can make this a great start to 2020 and the new decade. Enjoy the game."
