Gabriel Martinelli has impressed for Arsenal since being drafted in to replace exiled former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Aubameyang has been pushed to the sidelines at the Emirates Stadium after being stripped of the captain's armband following his latest disciplinary breach.
The Gabon international is no longer training with the first team and has been banished from the Premier League club's matchday squads for games against Southampton, West Ham and Leeds United.
Martinelli has come into the first XI in his place and has hit the ground running with a number of strong performances, including against Leeds as Mikel Arteta has been presented with another "problem".
The winger has been touted as a star of the future, not least by teammate Aubameyang.
The pair had an awkward first encounter when the Brazilian first moved to the club.

Mikel Arteta has "another problem"
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has "another problem" following the 4-1 win over Leeds United according to club legend Ian Wright.
Gabriel Martinelli fired a first-half double before Bukayo Saka added a third just before half-time.
Raphinha’s penalty reduced the deficit before substitute Emile Smith Rowe’s late effort snuffed out any faint hopes of a fightback.
And Wright says it was Smith Rowe who has presented his manager with a "problem" during the match.
Aubameyang's Martinelli message
Ex-Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang predicted Gabriel Martinelli will be a "superstar" before the young Brazilian replaced him in the Gunners' starting XI.
Martinelli now has three goals in three games since replacing Aubameyang including his stunning brace against Leeds.
But his performances won't have come as a surprise to Auba, who made the bold prediction about his teammate nearly two years ago.
It came on another occasion when Martinelli replaced his former captain in the line-up, with Aubameyang serving a three-match suspension and so unable to play against Sheffield United.
Martinelli's awkward Aubameyang encounter
Details of Gabriel Martinelli's awkward first encounter with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have come to light.
Martinelli joined the Gunners in July 2019 when he was just 18 years old – and the first player he met at the club happened to be Aubameyang.
At the time, Aubameyang was at the height of his powers in an Arsenal shirt and had just come off of a 31-goal season for his club.
And so the sight of the Gabon international sat on his own in the club canteen will have been quite intimidating for a young Martinelli, who has admitted he spoke no English at the time.
