Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's Arsenal team-mates go wild after new contract announcement

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has penned a new long-term deal with Arsenal.

The Gunners have been working tirelessly to get their star striker, who was out of contract next summer, to sign a new deal.

And he has now put pen-to-paper on a new three-year contract, saying the deal 'was never in doubt'.

Aubameyang announced the deal live on Instagram, as well as on a live stream on the club's website, and speaking to the club website, he said: "Signing for this special club was never in doubt.

"It’s thanks to our fans, my team-mates, my family and everybody at this club that I feel like I belong here. I believe in Arsenal.

"We can achieve big things together. We have something exciting here and I believe the best is to come for Arsenal.”

The news has absolutely delighted Arsenal fans, and Aubameyang 's teammates are just as pleased.

Bukayo Saka said: 'MY CAPTAINNNN', while others, including Emile-Smith Rowe and Reiss Neilson sent several emojis.

Alexandre Lacazette added: "Congratulations my brother! Finally after one month after the [sand timer emoji]... you have the biggest ego in the world.

"But it's better now. Congrats bro, I'm really happy for you."

Speaking about the deal, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said: “It was important for Pierre-Emerick to stay with us. He’s a superb player with an incredible mentality.

"Being the player to have taken the least amount of time to reach 50 goals with this club tells you everything you need to know about him and his way of working.

"He’s an important leader for the team and a big part of what we’re building. He wants to be up there with the best players in the world and leave his mark. He can achieve that here.”
