Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang reveals secret of partnership with Alexandre Lacazette

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang says he struck up an understanding with Alexandre Lacazette from their first meeting at Arsenal, with humour the key to their burgeoning partnership.

The Gabonese has scored 41 goals in 64 games for the Gunners since his arrival from Borussia Dortmund in January last year, six months after the signing of Lacazette, who has 36 goals in 87 Arsenal appearances since joining from Lyon.

The pair are both likely to start the Europa League final against Chelsea in Baku next Wednesday, and Aubameyang says he knew all about the Frenchman from the moment he arrived in North London.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan breaks silence over Europa League final decision

“I already knew his style of play, our first meeting was great,” he told RMC Sport .

“We share the same view of football. We joke and like to laugh. On the pitch, all it takes is a look. It’s natural.

“One will find the other and the other will do the same just as much.”

Aubameyang - who shared this season's Premier League Golden Boot award with Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane - added that he is determined to become a legend at Arsenal, and is using the example of a Chelsea great as he looks to continue to establish himself in England.

Blow for Arsenal as Chelsea given huge boost ahead of Europa League final

“When Drogba arrived, he was a little younger than me and he destroyed the Premier League, in a good way.

“It’s fun [at Arsenal ] and I’m very happy, but it was challenging for me to come to Arsenal and impose myself as a great striker.

“Now I want my name to become a legend there.”
