Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang responds to Nicolas Pepe and Alexandre Lacazette messages

Both Nicolas Pepe and Alexandre Lacazette had Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on their minds after scoring in Arsenal's 3-1 win at Southampton, and Aubameyang thanked them for it.

The Gunners pair helped their side come from a goal down at St Mary's on Tuesday night, with Stuart Armstrong having opened the scoring for the Saints after just three minutes.

Pepe quickly equalised with a smart finish, with Arsenal then taking the game away from the hosts with further goals from Bukayo Saka and Lacazette, with each teeing the other up to score.

The match was the second meeting between the pair in four days after Southampton won 1-0 in the FA Cup on Saturday, with Aubameyang missing both matches with an unspecified personal issue.

Mikel Arteta said before the match that the issue was still on ongoing, and after the win he dedicated the victory to Aubameyang, adding that he isn't sure whether or not he'll be able to return for Saturday's clash with Manchester United.

"No [update on his availability] but I love how they support each other and protect each other," he said.

"Auba is having a difficult time, we’re all behind him and this win is for him."

Both Pepe and Lacazette took to Instagram to send messages to Aubameyang after after game.

Alongside an image of him celebrating his third Premier League goal of the season, Pepe simply wrote: "For my brother."

Lacazette's message included Aubameyang's squad number 14, with the captain responding with the words "my men".

Arsenal's win takes them up to eighth place in the Premier League ahead of the weekend meeting with United at the Emirates.
