Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang reacts to Nicolas Pepe's Europa League brace for Arsenal

Nicolas Pepe finally started to repay the £70 million that Arsenal paid for him in the summer with two crucial goals in the Europa League.

The Ivorian forward has struggled to find his feet at the Emirates since his transfer from Lille, but was on target twice on Thursday.

Arsenal found themselves trailing twice throughout the match, with Portuguese visitors Vitoria Guimaraes scoring either side of Gabriel Martinelli's goal.

But with the clock ticking down, Pepe scored two free kicks, the first 10 minutes from the end, before netting the winner in stoppage time.

And few in the crowd were as pleased about Pepe's match-winning strike as teammate and Gunners striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang .

Arsenal boss Unai Emery decided to rest Aubameyang for the clash, but the Gabon international was still in the stands to cheer on his side.

As reported by Football London , @shah486 caught images of Aubameyang celebrating the goal with Gunners defender Sokratis, who was also watching on.

Aubameyang tapped his teammate on the back before embracing him in a big hug, whulst sporting a huge grin.

Pepe struck a sublime left-footed set piece over the wall and into the top corner from a central position, leaving Vitoria's keeper no chance.

He had scored one from a similar distance just minutes earlier, this time curling one from the right-hand side of the box into the far corner.

Emery said after the match: "We are very happy for him [Pepe] because those two goals were perfect.

"He was trying a lot of set pieces on the training ground this week and I was expecting him to shoot because I was positive about having a situation like that.

"I think the most important thing is three points and how some individuals can improve and become more confident."

Arsenal remain top of Group F on maximum points after winning all three of their fixtures so far.
