Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang provides update on 'very difficult decision' over Arsenal future

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang admits he faces a “very difficult decision” over whether to stay with the Gunners as he reaches a “turning point” in his career.

The Gabonese striker has one more year remaining on his contract at the Emirates, which expires in June 2021.

And Mikel Arteta will be desperate to retain the former Borussia Dortmund forward having scored 61 goals in 97 appearances since joining in 2018.

But at 30 years old and having failed to win any silverware in north London so far, Aubameyang admits he is facing a tough decision.

“I haven’t had an offer recently,” Aubameyang revealed on French football programme Telefoot.

“But I did speak to the club quite a few months ago, and they know why nothing has happened yet.

“They have the keys. It is up to them to do their work and, after that, we will see how things go.

“It’s a turning point in my career and I want to be honest with everyone. It’ll certainly be a very difficult decision to make.”

Arsenal travel to second-placed Manchester City on Wednesday as the Premier League restarts following a lengthy suspension due to coronavirus.

Arteta's side are ninth in the table and face an uphill task to qualify for next season's Champions League.
