Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang new Arsenal contract sealed as goal hero says yes to bumper deal

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will sign his bumper £250,000-a-week new Arsenal contract imminently - according to a report.

David Ornstein of The Athletic claims the Gabonese goal hero will pen a new three-year deal.

It's claimed an intervention from Gunners manager Mikel Arteta, who has a positive relationship with the striker's father, was key to convincing him to stay at the Emirates for the coming Premier League campaign and beyond.

Aubameyang, 31, will become the highest-paid player ever at the North London club under the new contract.

The former Borussia Dortmund star only had one year left to run on his existing terms, with speculation over whether he could leave the club on a free next season or for a fee in this summer window.

But it's understood he will instead commit his future to the capital city club in the coming days.

Arsenal fans took Aubameyang's involvement in the club's start-of-campaign photocall and promotional material for the new season's kits as a positive sign he would ink a new deal.

Now the announcement could come ahead of the club's season opener against Fulham on Saturday.

Aubameyang scored 27 goals for the Gunners in all competitions last season and was signed by Arsene Wenger in January 2018.
