Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang issues response to rumours over his Arsenal contract situation

Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has responded to reports over his contract latest contract talks with the club.

The Mirror claim that the Gunners are ready to re-open contract negotiations with the 30-year-old, but the player wants to wait to see if the club will be playing in the Champions League next season before committing his future.

Aubameyang has just over one year left remaining on his current deal, with teams such as Barcelona already showing an interest in the striker.

Should Arsenal not be able to agree a new contract with the Gabon international then they will have to make a decision whether to cash in during the summer or risk losing the player for nothing just one season later.

Aubameyang has made an impact at the Emirates Stadium since joining from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018, scoring 60 goals and providing 13 assists in 95 appearances for the club.

Amid the latest reports over the negotiations, Aubameyang has used social media to respond to the rumours.

"Why they Talk about what they don’t Know," the striker wrote on his Twitter account with a shrugging emoji in reply to the reports.

The Gabon international was named Arsenal captain back in November, replacing midfielder Granit Xhaka and has scored 19 goals in 30 appearances so far this season.

17 of them goals have come in the Premier League putting him top of the goalscoring chart alongside Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy.
