Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang handed Chelsea escape route amid Romelu Lukaku transfer dilemma

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could be set to be handed an escape route away from Chelsea this summer. The striker has struggled to adapt to life back in England this season and has fallen down the pecking order under Graham Potter.

The Gabon international was brought back to the Premier League by Thomas Tuchel before the German was sacked just days later. He was left out of the Blues' Champions League squad for the second half of the season, sparking doubts over his future.

Aubameyang has been linked with a move to the MLS since and a return to Barcelona has even been tipped. The 33-year-old has only made 18 appearances since his move, scoring three goals and assisting only one.

Now, according to reports in Italy, Inter Milan are considering a possible move for the striker as they look to bolster their attacking options. Current Blues loanee Romelu Lukaku will leave the club at the end of the season and return to Cobham, leaving the I Nerazzurri short in the final third.

As per, La Gazzetta dello Sport, Aubameyang is on Simone Inzaghi's summer shopping list. The Italian giants are expected to monitor the striker's situation at Stamford Bridge following reports that Todd Boehly could consider terminating his contract.

Aubameyang recently angered the SW6 faithful last week after he was pictured in the Barcelona dressing room after the El Clasico win over Real Madrid. The Gabonese striker was pictured celebrating with his ex-teammates, with some suggesting he would like a return to the Nou Camp.
