Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang feels like Arsenal are 'giving goals to opposition' after Watford collapse

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has bemoaned Arsenal  “iterally giving goals to the opposition” after squandering a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 at Watford.

The Gabonese striker had scored a brace to put the Gunners in a commanding position.

But defensive mistakes proved costly as the Hornets stormed back into the game to grab a point and even missed excellent opportunities to win the match.

The manner of the draw has left Aubameyang dispirited and lamenting his side’s inability to defend properly.

“Obviously we didn’t expect that,” Aubameyang told Canal Plus. “We knew that they were going to try and come back with good intentions, of the kind they demonstrated in the second half.

“Sadly, we were not able to deal with them well. I feel like we are literally giving goals to the opposition, it is up to us to progress in that respect…

“I don’t want to accuse anyone, you could say that us the attackers could have killed the game off and score a third goal, so I am not going to say it is someone’s fault.

“It is a shame to concede goals like we did… I think it affects us (to lose Lacazette for a few weeks).

“We know very well that he brings us so much in these sorts of games.”
