Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang explains how Arsenal's front three is exactly like Liverpool's

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang reckons Arsenal's new-look front three is similar to Liverpool's world-class trio of strikers.

Aubameyang lead the line alongside Alexandre Lacazette and Alex Iwobi last season, but the latter joined Everton in the summer transfer window.

Meanwhile Arsenal parted with a club record £72million to sign Ivory Coast international Nicolas Pepe from Lille, and Aubameyang claims this has made all the difference.

"I see a lot of similarities [between Liverpool's front three and Arsenal's]," Aubameyang told Sky Sports.

"Pepe and me, we are quick players like [Sadio] Mane and [Mohamed] Salah, while Laca is a player who can keep the ball and is really good with his feet like [Roberto] Firmino.

"So yes, we can say we are close enough."

The Gabon international will have the opportunity to prove himself this weekend when Arsenal take on Liverpool at Anfield.

The Gunners go into the game in great form having beating Newcastle and Burnley in their opening two fixtures of the season.

But Liverpool are in equally good form, having overcome newly-promoted Norwich and Southampton in their opening matches.

"It will be a tough game against them," Aubameyang added. "They are great players.

"They always try to go forward and try to get goals and assist each other. They are one of the best trios in the world."
