Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang blasts Toni Kroos as extraordinary row escalates

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has responded to Toni Kroos' recent criticism as the bizarre off-field row between the two players escalates.

Kroos, who has just started his seventh campaign with Real Madrid, recently started a new podcast entitled Einfach mal Luppen , and in the most recent episode he hit out at the likes of Aubameyang and Antoine Griezmann for their elaborate goal celebrations.

The Arsenal striker donned a Black Panther mask after he scored for the Gunners in a Europa League game against Rennes last season, and he also once wore a spiderman one while playing for Borussia Dortmund.

And speaking on the podcast, Kroos said: "If there are rehearsed dances or choreographies, I find it silly.

"Celebrating with masks, that’s where it ends for me. I don’t think that’s a good role model either. What nonsense."

Aubameyang was clearly far from impressed with Kroos' words, however, and he took to social media on Thursday to explain his reasonings behind the celebration.

He posted on his Twitter account: "By the way, does this Toni Kroos have kids? Just to remember I did it for my son few Times and i will do it again.

"I wish you have kids one day and make them happy like this Junior School pupils Talk and don't Forget #maskon #staysafe", while he also included an emoji of a clown.

Along with the post Aubameyang retweeted a recent picture a school child had drawn of him in response to a task in which they had to produce an image which they felt reflected the word 'happiness'.

It remains to be seen if Kroos responds to Aubameyang's pointed message, but the beef between the two players seems rather odd considering they have never played for the same side or ever even faced each other many times on the pitch.
