Piero Hincapie Celtic transfer news as rising star's dad reveals failed bids for Ecuador defender

Piero Hincapie's dad revealed his son has already been the subject of failed bids after Celtic were linked with the South American sensation.

But he would love the Ecuadorian teenager to end up at Spanish giants Real Madrid as the race hots up for the 19-year-old international.

The Hoops are among a string of clubs linked with Hincapie who has made his breakthrough at the Copa America, where he is set to face the mighty Brazil on Sunday.

Ange Postecolgou will ramp up his summer transfer recruitment after arriving in Glasgow and needs to strengthen in defence, with Kris Ajer set to head for the exit.

Hincapie is a ball-playing centre half and looks to suit Postecoglou’s style perfectly but Celtic face stiff competition if they are serious about landing the player.

He played every minute in the Argentinian top flight last season for Atletico Talleres after signing from Independiente del Valle in his homeland.

Real Betis, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, PSG, AC Milan, Newcastle United and Celtic have all been linked.

And his father Jesus Hincapie said: "There has been interest for him and I know there have been offers too from clubs in Europe.

"But for now, the offers haven't been big enough for the board of his club, Talleres de Cordoba, to consider.

"Now I know there are other big clubs in Europe who have appeared, who are very interested in my son.

"Hopefully, one of them might be Real Madrid because that's the club he has always dreamed of playing for.

"My boy is excited about the stories linking him with clubs in Europe. It's natural. But I tell him to concentrate on playing football and entrust the rest to God.

"After the Copa America, I expect something to happen with him.”

And Hincapie senior admits he was more nervous than his son when he made his Ecuador debut against Colombia last week.

He said: "Before the game, I was sweating for him! I prayed the game would go well for him and it did.

"He actually looked like he had played for years with the team.

"At the end of the match, I was crying. I watched him turn from a boy to a man in 90 minutes.”

Meanwhile, Toulouse hope to tie up another loan deal for Celtic striker Vakoun Bayo by the weekend, according to the French club's president.

The Ivory Coast international striker wants to spend another campaign in the French second tier after a successful season with Toulouse last term where they narrowly missed out on promotion in the play-offs.

They have a purchase option of £2.5 million, but they appear to be edging closer to agreeing on another loan instead with Celtic, with Ange Postecoglou seemingly happy enough not to use him this season either.

And Toulouse president, Damien Comolli, revealed: "I want to clarify the case of Vakoun Bayo.

"Yes, he was missing at the start of our pre-season training, but I am awaiting an answer from him imminently.

"I would very much like to count him in the squad for next season and so would our manager, Philippe Montanier, too.

"Our stated aim for this season is a place in the top two and to achieve that, we need the best possible squad."
