Pierce Brosnan visits Daft Eddy's restaurant in Co Down

Pierce Brosnan has paid a visit to a family-run restaurant in Co Down.

The James Bond actor has been spotted out and about around Northern Ireland in recent weeks. On Thursday, July 7, Brosnan was spotted visiting family-run restaurant, Daft Eddy's near Whiterock on the western shore of Strangford Lough.

Posting on social media, the restaurant said: "Not often that 007 pops by to pester your staff for a photo," adding he was a "total gentleman."

Brosnan is currently in Northern Ireland filming his upcoming movie, The Last Rifleman. In the film, he'll play a World War II veteran living in a care home in Northern Ireland who has just lost his wife.

The film, inspired by true events, is supported by Northern Ireland Screen and is being filmed in NI and the Republic of Ireland. The Last Rifleman is directed by Belfast native, Terry Loane, who is known for his film Mickybo & Me.

The actor has been spotted in a number of spots around Belfast and Co Down in recent weeks. On June 23, he enjoyed a meal at Fontana Restaurant in Holywood.

He visited the restaurant for lunch alongside his personal assistant, with Adam Stockman from the area saying Brosnan was very down to earth and "full of Irish charm." The actor enjoyed a meal and a glass of white wine in the High Street restaurant.

Adam Stockman told Belfast Live: "He's literally just landed in NI, the first time he's ever been in the country, which I was surprised about myself."

Last week, on July 2, Brosnan enjoyed a lunch at Deane's Love Fish in Belfast City Centre. Restaurant owner Michael Deane was excited to have the actor stop by to try the food.

In a post on Instagram, the chef said: "Gone fishing with the legend that is Pierce Brosnan joining us today in Deane's Love Fish."

Later that day, he was spotted at the Lyric Theatre in South Belfast at the Our Place In Space event where 'Belfast' actress Caitriona Balfe and visual artist Oliver Jeffers were in discussion with Kathy Clugston.

The topic of discussion was how being away from their homeplace on the island of Ireland then coming back has changed their respective practices and their sense of 'our place.'

The official Instagram page for the event shared a photo of Pierce Brosnan with the artists, adding it was "class" to have the actor there for a "surprise visit at the end."
