Pierce Brosnan selling James Bond-inspired Los Angeles house for $100m

Pierce Brosnan has listed his Malibu house for $100m (£77.7m), making it the eighth most-expensive residence for sale in Los Angeles County.

The actor’s property is around 12,500-square-foot, according to The Wall Street Journal, and was inspired by Brosnan’s 1997 James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies, which was shot in Bangkok and Phang Nga Bay, Thailand.

Named Orchid House, the home features a tiled roof made of green clay that imitates the tops of Thai temples. The house’s carved teak entry gates also come from Thailand.

“It was a labour of love to get the exact green colour,” Brosnan’s wife, the filmmaker Keely Shaye Brosnan, told the journal.

The master suite spans 4,000 square feet and has two fireplaces, an art studio and a deck with views of the Pacific Ocean.

The five-bedroom house also has a cinema, two bars, a wine cellar, a music room, a gym, a spa, a swimming pool and a small, man-made private beach.

Brosnan is selling the house because his children have grown up and moved out, and he spends more time in Hawaii where he has a home on Kauai’s North Shore.
