Pierce Brosnan reveals he lost two close friends to coronavirus: 'We are at war'

Pierce Brosnan has revealed two of his close friends have died from coronavirus.

The actor, 67, told Parade Magazine that he had been friends with both for 45 years, and is godfather to one of the friend’s sons.

He said that he is constantly worried about when the virus will hit next, and that he views it as a “constant threat”.

“No matter where you are and how beautiful it may be, you still have this awful threat to life looming,” he said.

“You have to keep pushing the rock uphill, and you have to keep involved in life. We are at war. People are dying.”

Brosnan added that he hoped some good would come of the pandemic, and people would emerge kinder and more aware of the planet they inhabit.

The former James Bond star has been isolating with his wife Keely Shaye Smith in their family cottage on the island of Kauai, in Hawaii, and their sons Dylan, 23, and Paris, 19.

He travelled home after production on his latest film, Disney's Cinderella, shut down amid lockdown measures.

While in lockdown, he participated in a live watch-along of Goldeneye, during which he revealed director Quentin Tarantino once "drunk pitched" him an idea for a new 007 movie.
