Pierce Brosnan goes “completely bonkers berserk”, is threatened with death and sees his mafia family faced with “war” in an action-packed new trailer for MobLand series two.
The award-winning actor stars in the Paramount+ crime series as Conrad Harrigan, the head of a powerful mob family in a high-stakes battle for power to “run north London”.
In an explosive trailer released by Paramount+ on Thursday, the formidable patriarch is seemingly driven to insanity as his criminal empire faces its latest threats.
Tom Hardy opens the trailer back in his role as Harry Da Souza – the “fixer” who is called up to make a problem disappear when things go awry for the Harrigans.
“May I speak plainly? This family is in a death spiral,” he says, sitting before Conrad Harrigan and his mobster wife Maeve (Dame Helen Mirren).
Hardy continues to speak as packages of drugs, guns firing and scenes of violence are shown in rapid succession, with the heads of the Harrigan clan at the centre of the action.
Da Souza says: “Conrad, the Harrigans run north London, and my job is to prevent that from changing.
“We’ve lost fentanyl. Now heroin. We are surrounded by sharks, ripe for the picking.
“If you ask me, it’s already begun.”
Conrad, who is wearing a robe as he sits in front of a flickering fireplace, asks what Da Souza means, to which he responds: “The war.”
The trailer, which is set to Foggy Dew by The Young Dubliners, includes scenes of theft, break-ins, and an exploding house as Dame Helen’s character says: “The clock is ticking.”
Da Souza is then seen in conversation with his wife Jan, played by Joanne Froggatt, who tells him: “You spent all your life fixing for that family. You’re not the remedy.”
The trailer escalates as a voice says “Conrad went completely bonkers berserk” over clips of the mobster brandishing a gun, shouting, screaming and acting erratically.
Da Souza is also seen saying international cartel boss Kat McAllister is “going to eat us piece by piece”, and the black sheep of the Harrigan family is then shown in a secret meeting with her.
Seraphina Harrigan (Mandeep Dhillon) starts to display a change in loyalty, as she tells McAllister: “It’s time for change.”
A voice says “I want Conrad dead” amid clips of violence, gunshots and confrontations – and Brosnan’s character exclaims: “You want a war? I’ll give you a war!”
The trailer climaxes with further scenes of gunshots, flashing police lights and explosions, with a glimpse of Dame Helen drinking a martini among the violence, and text on screen reads: “Let chaos reign.”
The trailer ends as Brosnan’s character exclaims: “We are the Harrigans!”
“Don’t know the name? Then Google us,” he adds, accompanied by his laughing mobster wife after the couple seemingly shot up an establishment.
The upcoming series will consist of 10 episodes, and will see the Harrigan family struggle to show a united front while confronted with rising rivals – with “fixer” Da Souza at the centre of the drama.
Award-winning filmmaker Guy Ritchie is among the executive producers on the show, which also stars House Of The Dragon’s Paddy Considine and Top Boy actress Jasmine Jobson.
Other cast members include Anson Boon from Pistol, Da Vinci’s Demons actress Lara Pulver and Toby Jones – who is best known for Mr Bates vs The Post Office.
MobLand series two will premiere globally on Paramount+ on September 18.
