Pierce Brosnan does a U-turn on Trump and thanks him for the US economy

Pierce Brosnan has said he thinks what Donald Trump has done for the US economy is “very good”, in an apparent change of heart after previously condemning the president.

The 007 star once suggested he might leave the US after Trump was elected. However, asked about the issue in an interview with The Hill’s ‘In the Know’ section, he said: “I think what he’s done for the economy is very good.”

“People are working again, and that’s a step in the right direction,” he added. “This country is part of my life. I’m an American citizen. I love America and America’s been very good to me. And I want to see happiness come back into our society.”

Brosnan, a longtime environmental activist, did also add that Trump must “pay attention to climate change. He has to support the rallying call of young people.”

“He has to get rid of the coal business, the oil business,” he continued. “It’s just devouring the Earth around us. And there are other ways. We’ve seen it from other societies, other cultures.”

Brosnan made a very different stance when discussing Trump last year, in an interview with The Mail on Sunday’s Event magazine.

“That man has torn this country apart and you have to work out how much longer you can stay here,” he said.

Brosnan told ITK he was “biding his time” before deciding who to vote for in the forthcoming 2020 presidential election.
