The "Fab Four" statue on the Pier Head in Liverpool has undergone a Eurovision Song Contest makeover.

The iconic statue has undergone a transformation to welcome the world to the host city for this year's Eurovision, held in the UK on behalf of Ukraine.

The statue of Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, and John Lennon donned traditional Ukrainian Vyshyvankas sourced from Ukraine, for some special BBC filming set to air as part of the contest.

Kalush Orchestra won the 2022 contest with Ukraine set to host this year but it was deemed unsafe to do so considering Russia's invasion of their nation. Liverpool was then given the opportunity to host on their behalf following a bidding process between British cities.

Eurovision minister Stuart Andrew admitted he and others on the committee to approve the decision were overwhelmed with Liverpool's promise to represent Ukraine and the "ambitious" programme around the contest.

The Culture Liverpool team have organised a two-week celebration, EuroFestival, to highlight Ukrainian culture, art, music and life in an unprecedented event for the contest. EuroFestival kicks off on May 1 and will run to the night after the Grand Final, May 14.
