
It has come a little earlier than usual this year, but now is the season to view a phenomenon in which chunks of snow float on the surface of the reservoir of the Aburumagawa Dam in Uonuma, Niigata Prefecture. The area that gets heavy snowfall of more than 4 meters every year, leading to this typical early spring scene at the reservoir. Melting snow causes the water level to rise, causing large amounts of snow on the shore or surface to start floating.
