The Festival of Manchester returned to the city for a second year with an explosion of culture and creativity.
The one-day festival kicked off at Platt Fields Park on Saturday with an eclectic array of entertainment, activities, music, sport and food.
Thousands attended the family-friendly event, which ran from noon until 9pm.
The day was set up to celebrate the rich diversity and traditions of the many communities of Manchester .
It culminated in another memorable display on the park’s lake, put together by arts collective Walk The Plank.

The festival could now become an annual event on Manchester’s civic calendar.
