Pictures show jack-knifed lorry which closed A1 for around three hours

Fire crews were called out to the A1 after a crash between two lorries.

The incident happened at around 4am on Thursday, August 29.

Crews from Newark and Nottinghamshire Police attended the incident.

Highways England said the A1 southbound was closed from the A57 Markham Moor junction between Newark and Worksop due to a crash.

Diversion routes were in place, but the road was reopened at around 7am.

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews were mobilised to an incident on the A1 early this morning along with Newark Fire Station and Nottinghamshire Police.

"Upon arrival it was clear that this was a road traffic collision involving to two LGV’s, one of which jack-knifed.

"Fortunately no one was injured but crews made the scene safe and stayed at the scene until recovery came."
