Pictures show front of car destroyed after 'oil spill' caused crash in Whitefield

Two cars were badly damaged after a crash which police say was caused by a 'large oil spill'.

A telegraph pole was also knocked over during the incident in Bury New Road, Whitefield.

The front end of one of the cars is completely destroyed with considerable damage to the front of another car involved.

Traffic officers from Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said that a large oil spill was a "contributing factor" into the crash which happened on Saturday evening, close to the M60 junction 17 roundabout.

A spokesman for GMP Traffic shared photos from the incident on Twitter and wrote: "One from yesterday evening on Bury New in @GMPBuryWest.

"Looks like a large oil spill was a contributing factor in the collision which involved taking out a telegraph pole."
