Pictures show damage from devastating fire caused by 'unattended candle'

An unattended candle has been identified as the probable cause for an extensive fire at a property in Bristol.

Bedminster Fire Station responded to a house fire in South Bristol yesterday afternoon (April 17).

Two fighters attended the scene wearing breathing apparatus and tackled the fire which broke out in the bedroom of the property.

Thankfully no injuries were reported, however, extensive smoke damage was caused to the property.

Avon Fire and Rescue Service has identified the probable cause of the blaze as an unattended fire.

A photo shared on Twitter by Bedminster Fire Station shows the extent of the damage caused.

The wallpaper on the wall and door frame looks severely damaged.

The radiator on the wall was also left blackened by the incident and a firefighter can be seen in the corner of the photograph.

The full tweet shared on Twitter by Bedminster Fire Station said: "#GreenWatch responded to a house fire in South Bristol this afternoon.

"Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus dealt with the bedroom fire.

"No injuries but extensive smoke damage to the property. Unattended candle was the probable cause. #keepcandlesforcakes"
