Pictures show anti-Brexit protesters in Liverpool as four MILLION people sign petition

A plucky bunch of remain campaigners took to the city centre today to throw their support behind revoking Article 50.

The group, of around 30 people, stationed themselves on the steps of St George's Hall to share their message to the people of Liverpool.

Their demonstration comes after four million people signed a petition to Revoke Article 50 and remain in the EU .

The small crowd of 'remainers' today were chanting for 'a people's vote' - many armed with placards supporting their opinions.

One placard held by a young remainer read: "Stop trying to steal my future" and other one said 'your vote our future".

Other's were more light hearted, with one woman using the Beatles for her inspiration with her sign reading "She loves EU, yeah, yeah, yeah".

While another, written on part of a cardboard box said 'this sign is rubbish but it's still better than Brexit '.

Meanwhile some of the other signs demonstrated the anger of the campaigners with words such as "b****ks to Brexit" and "Brexit grass is greener because it's fertilized with b******t".

Earlier this week Mayor Anderson called on his fellow Scousers to try and stop Brexit.

The city leader confirmed he had signed a viral petition aimed at getting the government to revoke Article 50 and reverse the Brexit process altogether.

And it is that petition which continues to soar in numbers and is closing in on a total of 4.3million names.

The volume and speed of additions is overwhelming the Parliamentary website, which has crashed several times.

On Twitter Joe Anderson wrote: "Almost three years on we have a deal that’s worse than we have now, with no way of improving it, we need to Revoke Article 50 now, only way to end the chaos and prevent further damage to the UK."

He then posted  a link to the petition  in a bid to urge others in the city to do the same.

Normal protocol is that Parliament will consider all petitions that get more than 100,000 signatures for a debate.

According to European Council President Donald Tusk, Theresa May has agreed to delay Brexit until 22 May 2019 if she can persuade MPs to vote for her deal - but only until 12 April 2019 if she fails.

The UK was on track to  leave the European Union without a deal  in just eight days, on 29 March 2019, after  two crushing defeats  for the  Prime Minster  in the House of Commons over the last few months.

Whether the UK leaves in three months time in an orderly fashion with an approved deal, or  spectacularly crashes out  after two years of turmoil depends on the EU member states as well as MPs.
