Pictures show aftermath of 'nasty' crash in East Leake which left drivers trapped

A "nasty" head-on crash in East Leake left drivers trapped before they were rescued by emergency crews.

The collision took place on Woodgate Road.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue and East Midlands Ambulance Service were called to the scene.

The fire service said drivers were trapped after the crash, before they were freed and then treated by EMAS.

In a post on Sunday, December 5, East Leake Fire Station said it had been a very busy week for their crews - with an increase in crashes at this time of year.

As well as the crash on Woodgate Road, they also attended another crash involving a delivery van and supported the effort at Sims Metal in Nottingham where a huge fire broke out.

A spokesperson for East Leake Fire Station said: "As we unfortunately, come to expect at this time of year we have already attended an increase in road traffic collisions.

"A delivery van at Cotes and head on collision on Woodgate Road, East Leake, in just the last three days.

"Add to that assisting with a police incident and fire fighting at Sims Metal have kept the East Leake crew very busy this week.

"Thanks to the Shepshed crew who together with us from East Leake station worked to free trapped drivers after a nasty road traffic collision in East Leake - also supported by Castle Donington.

"Thankfully casualties were all delivered into the care of East Midlands Ambulance Service. Great teamwork."
