Pictures released of the burnt out van which closed the A1 for six hours after it caught fire

The fire service released pictures of a burnt out van following a fire on the A1.

On Friday (June 21) at around 8.30pm the A1 northbound near Tuxford was completely closed off after a van caught fire.

It happened between North Muskham and Tuxford.

The road was closed for several hours afterwards because the road needed resurfacing. A diversion route was put in place.

The road reopened at around 2am, according to Highways England.

The road had to be repaired following the fire (Tuxford Fire Station)

Tuxford Fire Station attended the fire alongside crews from Retford.

The fire station shared pictures of the van when the fire had been extinguished.

A spokesman said: "On arrival it was clear that the vehicle was well alight. Crews used breathing apparatus, hose reel and a thermal imaging camera as well as breaking in gear to deal with incident."
