Pictures of 'rotten' turkeys posted online as wrath descends on Tesco and Aldi

Rotten turkeys scuppered some people's Christmas plans this year - as pictures emerge of dodgy-looking poultry.

The Mirror has reported that a number of shoppers were left reeling by their purchases.

According to the Mirror's website, a woman named Divya Gill wrote that her "dog started gagging" in response to her festive bird.

Supermarkets mentioned by social media users complaining about their turkeys include Tesco and Aldi.

A man named Rob Stirling claimed Tesco had "ruined" his Christmas, while publishing an image of his disappointing turkey.

An equally - if not more - disturbing turkey was apparently bought by a man called Ross Strong.

His picture appears to show, in grim detail, an unusual blemished patch on the meat.

The turkey boasts a hole surrounded by discoloured flesh.

An Aldi spokesperson said: 'We are sorry that, in a small number of instances, we did not meet our usual high-quality standards.

"Customers can return any product that they are not satisfied with to their nearest store for a full refund, or alternatively contact our customer services department.”

A Tesco spokesperson said: The turkey is an important part of many Christmas dinners, so we take great care when selecting and preparing our turkeys."

The spokesman added that they were sorry to hear about customer dissatisfaction, before pledging to investigate further.
