Pictures of revellers appearing to relieve themselves could cost North Shields venue its licence

Disgusting images appearing to show people urinating and vomiting in the street could cost a North Shields cocktail bar its licence.

The pictures are part of a package of evidence against How Do You Do. The venue faces a licencing hearing this week.

Northumbria Police, which called the review, claimed that last Augus, revellers were packed "shoulder to shoulder" inside the venue which had "no social distancing in place" despite the Covid-19 pandemic.

The force also linked a wild Saturday night street brawl to the venue. The incident - which involved up to 40 people - left a man unconscious.

Punters have since jumped to the bar's defence, claiming the venue is "a great place to drink, socialise and meet friends and family".

However, newly published documents reveal just how fed-up some neighbours are.

One submitted a picture of a woman she suspects was "defecating", claiming drug-fuelled youngsters are "rampaging" up the street, leaving it covered in vomit and glass.

"Another flat in my block has gone up for sale. That's three out of six," wrote the local.

"It's a complete disgrace people are being hounded from their home."

Another, who has lived in the area for 55 years, claimed they'd witnessed "blatant" drug use and even a spitting contest.

"Complaints the the management fell on deaf ears," they wrote in their submission.

"I was told it's a bar, get used to it."

ChronicleLive has repeatedly contacted the venue for comment.

Among the catalogue of incidents logged during the last 12 months are claims it had been "repeatedly open for business during the first lockdown".

Police chiefs want the venue's licence revoked. If North Tyneside Council decide not to, the force is seeking the removal of Kenan Ozkan as the designated premises supervisor (DPS).

However, in a letter of support, one person wrote that would be "absurd and frankly unfair".

"It is common knowledge that the residents of the close surrounding area have had a vendetta against any DPS running the venue as they want it closed, regardless of who is in charge," they added.

Others claimed the venue had nothing to do with the majority of incidents and that revoking the licence would see it "punished for the actions of others".

However, for many neighbours, they claim they've simply had enough.

In a letter on behalf of those living at the nearby Renaissance Point complex, it is claimed that over four years, multiple complaints have been lodged with the council.

Attempts at resolving it with senior figures at the bar have, they claim, resulted in "threats of intimidation and racial slurs".

"Recently residents have been witnessed to patrons urinating and defecating in their own residential gardens," adds the letter, which also calls for the licence to be revoked.

A Licencing Sub-Committee hearing takes place on Thursday, February 4 at 11am.
