Pictures of Liverpool as pubs and restaurants wait to find out if they will have to close again

Liverpool’s bars and pubs could be set to close next week as the city awaits news of further lockdown restrictions as coronavirus cases continue to rise.

After the national lockdown, hospitality venues were allowed to reopen on July 4 with social distancing measures in place and enjoyed a pick up in trade during the Eat Out to Help Out scheme in August.

But with coronavirus cases rapidly increasing in Liverpool, the city has been placed under a local lockdown, which includes a restriction on meeting people outside of your household or support bubble in venues including restaurants and bars.

This week it was suggested that the city will face further restrictions on Monday with the government tipped to close pubs and restaurants once again across Merseyside and other areas in the north of England that are experiencing a rise in cases.

This week, a number of venues in Liverpool decided to close ‘for the foreseeable future’, due to the ongoing pandemic and the new restrictions placed on the hospitality industry.

Alma de Cuba, Heaven, GBar, Black Rabbit, Fusion and the iconic Cavern Club have all shut their doors. In Crosby, Rocksalt, So Salsa and The Tree House, have also temporarily closed.
